Lucknow: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has successfully cracked a case of trick theft (tappebazi) in the Kaiserbagh area, leading to the arrest of three habitual offenders.
According to police officials, the breakthrough came after an extensive review of nearly 150 CCTV cameras installed across a 15-kilometre stretch, which helped trace the accused. The arrests were made near Saadat Ali Khan Tomb following a tip-off from an informer.
The case dates back to April 4, when the accused allegedly deceived a woman and fled with her gold earrings and mangalsutra. During the arrest, police recovered yellow metal ornaments, including a pendant and earrings, from the possession of the accused.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they used to target women by luring them into conversation and then tricking them into handing over their jewellery.
Police have added relevant sections to the case and produced all three accused before the court. Further investigation is underway to ascertain their involvement in similar incidents.
